Colorado Plains Medical Center CEO to retire: 5 notes

Gene O’Hara, PharmD, CEO of Colorado Plains Medical Center in Ft. Morgan, is retiring, according to a Fort Morgan Times report.

Here are five notes:

1. Dr. O’Hara assumed the CEO role in 2014.

2. During his tenure, the hospital became a Duke LifePoint Quality Affiliate, a designation given to a Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health facility that “succeeded in transforming their culture of safety and achieving high standards of quality care, performance improvement and patient engagement.”

3. He has also received LifePoint Health’s High Five Award for operational excellence.

4. He was previously a professor at Lafayette, Ind.-based Purdue University and served as CEO of a nonprofit health system in Alaska.

5. Dr. O’Hara will continue serving as CEO until his successor has been named.
