Children's Health names new division chiefs: 8 things to know

Children's Health in Dallas has named two new division chiefs, according to the system.

Here are eight things to know about the leaders.

Gerald Greil, MD, PhD, has been appointed division chief of the department of pediatrics' division of cardiology.

1. Dr. Greil joined the faculty at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas as professor of pediatrics, radiology and advanced imaging research.

2. He holds the Pogue Family Distinguished Chair in pediatric cardiology.

3. Dr. Greil studied medicine in Germany, England, Boston, San Francisco and Sweden.

4. He earned a degree in pediatrics, pediatric intensive care, neonatology and pediatric cardiology in Tuebingen, Germany, and did a senior fellowship in pediatric cardiac MRI in Boston.

Craig Peters, MD, has been appointed division director of the department of pediatric urology.

5. Dr. Peters joined the faculty at University of Texas Southwestern as professor of urology.

6. He earned his medical degree and urology residency from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore and completed pediatric urology and surgical fellowships at Boston Children's Hospital through Harvard Medical School in Boston.

7. He has been on faculty at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School, the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, and Washington, D.C.-based George Washington University.

8. Dr. Peters is the pediatric editor of the Campbell-Walsh Textbook of Urology and is currently serving on the board of the American Urological Association.
