CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs president to retire, ending 24-year tenure

Marie Knedler, BSN, MSN, president of CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs (Iowa), is retiring in February, according to The Daily Nonpareil.

Ms. Knedler has worked at the hospital for 45 years, spending the last 24 as its president. She is also currently an executive sponsor of its cardiovascular service line. She began working at the hospital as an ICU nurse, working her way up to leadership roles such as manager of critical care and vice president for nursing.

She has also served in leadership roles at other Omaha, Neb.-based CHI Health hospitals in addition to her position at Mercy Council Bluffs. She was president of Creighton University Medical Center-Bergan Mercy from 2009 to 2015 and president of Creighton University Medical Center-University Campus in 2016 and 2017. Both hospitals are in Omaha.

In addition to her nursing degrees, Ms. Knedler holds an MBA from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
