Central Texas Medical Center names first CMO

Lee Johannsen, MD, was chosen as the first CMO of Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos.

Dr. Johannsen has been an emergency medicine physician at CTMC since 2009 and has served as medical director of the emergency department for six years and as chief of staff in 2012.

“When we created this position, Dr. Johannsen stood out as a phenomenal candidate,” said CTMC CEO Sam Huenergardt. “His leadership skills and ability to analyze complex problems made him a logical chose for CMO. He is a great communicator who can help us further develop the culture we are building here at CTMC.”

Dr. Johannsen completed medical school at the University of Iowa and completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Florida.
