Dr. Sperring is currently the president and CEO of Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health in Indianapolis, where he has worked since 2002. Under his tenure as CEO, Indiana Health System expanded its pediatric healthcare to a statewide children’s health system. He also served as Riley’s CMO, associate CMO and director of pediatric hospital medicine, according to a news release.
Dr. Sperring, an alumnus of Emory University in Atlanta, Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tenn., and Naval Medical Center San Diego, also served in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps for three years. He will replace Thomas N. Hansen, MD, who will retire in May. Dr. Sperring will oversee Seattle Children’s Hospital, its Research Institute, Hospital Research Foundation and Guild Association.
