Carolinas HealthCare System names Anthony DeFurio CFO: 3 things to know

Charlotte, N.C.-based Carolinas HealthCare System tapped Anthony DeFurio to serve as executive vice president and CFO, effective in October, according to a Charlotte Business Journal report.

Recently, Carolinas signed a letter of intent to merge with Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health Care, forming one of the nation’s largest hospital chains.

Here are three things to know:

1. Most recently, Mr. DeFurio was senior vice president and CFO at University of Colorado Health in Denver.

2. He is equipped with nearly 30 years of healthcare executive experience, and holds an MBA and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of Pittsburgh.

3. He succeeds Greg Gombar, who is retiring.
