California health system taps CEO

Gardner Health Services, based in San Jose, Calif., has named Rafael Vaquerano CEO.

The appointment concludes a yearlong search for a chief executive, according to a Sept. 13 news release. 

Mr. Vaquerano has more than 17 years of healthcare leadership experience, most recently serving as vice president of practice development and innovation at Walnut Creek, Calif.-based John Muir Health. He previously held director-level roles at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland (Calif.), Alameda (Calif.) Health System and San Mateo (Calif.) Medical Center.
