Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital CEO Allen Carroll to retire in May: 5 notes

Charleston, S.C.-based Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital CEO Allen Carroll is retiring after 27 years as leader of one of Charleston-based Roper St. Francis’ three flagship hospitals.

Here are five notes:

1. Mr. Carroll plans to retire in May 2017.

2. He came to Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital in 1990 as COO. He was named CEO in 1995.

3. He also served vice president of operations for Roper St. Francis, after it merged with Bon Secours St. Francis in 1998.

4. During his tenure, Bon Secours St. Francis has been listed among the top 100 hospitals in the country by Truven Health Analytics multiple times and has twice earned recognition as a Magnet hospital.

5. Roper St. Francis will begin the search for his replacement. The system is also exploring a part-time consultative relationship with Mr. Carroll for planning the new Roper St. Francis Berkeley Hospital campus, which he has been heading.
