Atrium Health taps UPMC innovation chief for executive post: 5 notes

Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health selected Rasu B. Shrestha, MD, to serve as executive vice president and chief strategy officer, effective in February 2019.

1. Dr. Shrestha most recently served as executive vice president and chief innovation officer at UPMC.

2. He was also executive vice president of UPMC Enterprises, a healthcare innovation and entrepreneurship venture.

3. Dr. Shrestha is chairman of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Innovation Committee and co-chair of Health Datapalooza.

4. He has completed a fellowship in informatics from the University of London in the United Kingdom and completed his MBA at Los Angeles-based University of Southern California.

5. He succeeds Carol Lovin, who was promoted to executive vice president and system chief of staff at Atrium Health.
