Amita Health CEO Mark Frey resigns

Lisle, Ill.-based Amita Health CEO Mark Frey is departing from the role, a health system spokesperson confirmed to Becker’s Hospital Review.

Mr. Frey has led Amita Health since it was created in 2015, according to Crain’s Chicago Business.

The joint venture was formed by Alexian Brothers Health System in Arlington Heights, Ill., and Hinsdale, Ill.-based Adventist Midwest Health, is part of AdventHealth in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Chicago-based Presence Health joined Amita Health in 2018. Mr. Frey oversaw its integration

Prior to the formation of Amita Health, Mr. Frey was CEO of Alexian Brothers Health System, which merged with St. Louis-based Ascension in 2012.

“We thank Mark Frey for his many years of service and wish him continued blessings in future endeavors,” a statement emailed to Becker’s reads.

Karen Springer, executive vice president of performance optimization and nursing operations for Ascension, and Eddie Soler, executive vice president of finance for AdventHealth, will serve as interim co-CEOs.
