Jeff St. Clair, president and CEO of Springhill Medical Center in Mobile, Ala., will retire in August after 17 years at the helm.
Mr. St. Clair is one of only three people to have held the hospital’s top leadership position, according to a July 2 SMC news release.
He became CEO in 2008 after serving as COO since the 1990s. He joined the hospital in the mid-1980s as assistant vice president of operations.
During his tenure, Mr. St. Clair played a key role in establishing the hospital’s 50,000-square-foot heart center, led several other major campus projects, and spearheaded multiple patient quality initiatives, according to the release.
“My hope is that this organization will become as meaningful to those working here as it’s always been to me in the 42 years I’ve been a part of the hospital,” Mr. St. Clair said in the release. “It’s a historic time in the hospital’s history as we celebrate 50 years, and I’ll be leaving the organization at a time marked by an incredible transition with a new orthopedic care partner and a top-rated cardiac surgery program that we built from the ground up.”
SMC is family-owned and a subsidiary of Southern Medical Health Systems.
