AHA’s Institute for Diversity in Health Management names Manuel Tomás León CEO

The Institute for Diversity in Health Management of the American Hospital Association has named Manuel Tomás León president and CEO to replace Fred Hobby, who led the institute for the last 10 years.

In this role, Mr. León will lead the institute’s efforts to expand healthcare leadership opportunities for ethnically, culturally and racially diverse individuals.

Prior to his appointment, Mr. León served as president and CEO of the People of Color Network, a community-based accountable care network in the greater Phoenix region. As chief of the People of Color Network, which serves approximately 6,000 people, Mr. León was responsible for providing leadership for the network’s community foundation, chamber of commerce and a behavioral health organization.

“Tomás is an accomplished and dedicated healthcare leader. His innovation experience and purpose-driven energy will further the Institute’s mission and accelerate the call to action to eliminate health care disparities,” said Maulik Joshi, AHA associate executive vice president and president of the Health Research & Educational Trust.
