13 recent hospital, health system CEO moves

The following hospital and health system CEO moves have been reported by Becker's since Dec. 14: 

1. Heather Bentley Long, MSN, was named CEO of Leesburg-based UF Health Central Florida. 

2. Phil Smith was released as CEO of Tulare (Calif.) Local HealthCare District following a board of directors vote. He served one year in the role. 

3. Alan Keesee was named CEO of HCA Healthcare North Florida Division's Ocala Hospital.

4. Brian Barta was named CEO of Winfield, Kan.-based William Newton Hospital. He previously served as the hospital's CFO. 

5. Randy Rogers was named CEO of Tenet's Fountain Valley (Calif.) Regional Hospital. 

6. Kristie Whitlatch, MSN, president and CEO of King's Daughters Health System in Ashland, Ky., is retiring. She spent 35 years with the system and has led it since 2013.  

7. Joel Yuhas, president and CEO of Colorado Springs, Colo.-based UCHealth Memorial Hospital and its Pikes Peak region facilities, is leaving for a role with Pittsburgh-based UPMC. 

8. Melvin McNea — the retired CEO of North Platte, Neb.-based Great Plains Health — has left retirement to serve Scottsbluff, Neb.-based Regional West Health Services as interim CEO. 

9. Rex Brown, CEO of Hillsboro (Ill.) Area Hospital, will retire Dec. 31 after 29 years in the role. 

10. James Reed, MD, president and CEO of Albany, N.Y.-based St. Peter's Health Partners and Syracuse, N.Y.-based St. Joseph's Health, will retire December 31.

11. Steve Heatherly has been named market president of Sovah Health, a member of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health, and CEO of its Danville (Va.) hospital. 

12. Osbert Blow, MD, PhD, the CEO of Corpus Christi, Texas-based Christus Spohn Health System, will retire Dec. 30. 

13. John Sylvia has been named president and CEO of Petersburg, W.Va-based Grant Memorial Hospital, a member of WVU Medicine.
