3 things to know about new AHA board chairman Jonathan Perlin

Jonathan Perlin, MD, the president of clinical services and CMO at Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America, has assumed the position as the new chairman of the American Hospital Association Board of Directors, according to The Tennessean.

Here are three things to know about Dr. Perlin.

1. Dr. Perlin previously served as CEO of the Veteran’s Health Administration, the health division of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

2. During his time at the VA, Dr. Perlin helped develop one of America’s leading EMR systems, and HCA hired him “to develop a comprehensive approach to clinical informatics and health improvement standards,” according to the report.

3. Dr. Perlin received a master’s degree in health administration and received his PhD in pharmacology (molecular neurobiology) with his Doctor of Medicine as part of the Physician Scientist Training Program at the Medical College of Virginia of Virginia Commonwealth University.
