10 States With Highest Hospital CEO Turnover

Here are the top ten states with the highest percent of hospital CEO turnovers, according to the American College of Healthcare Executives’ “Hospital CEO Turnover in 2011” report.

1.    Hawaii — 35 percent
2.    Puerto Rico — 30 percent
3.    Wyoming — 29 percent
4.    Arizona — 25 percent
5.    Arkansas — 25 percent
6.    Alaska — 24 percent
7.    South Carolina — 23 percent
8.    Idaho — 22 percent
9.    Kansas — 21 percent
10.    Massachusetts — 20 percent

ACHE adjusted the turnover rate downward in states with more than 36 turnovers to account for unrecorded interim and acting CEOs who were intentionally assigned to posts for a short period.
