At the end of January, the ONC Health IT Standards Committee held a meeting discussing the patterns of meaningful use attestations.
They reported 42 percent of eligible professionals are scheduled to attest to stage 2, 15 percent of which have already attested.
The ONC has also released a report showing meaningful use attestation by physician specialty. The report shows the percent of physicians enrolled in an ONC regional extension center that are live on an EHR and demonstrating meaningful use.
Here are the top 6 specialties in which physicians are demonstrating meaningful use.
1. Internal medicine: 80 percent
2. General/family practice: 78 percent
3. All primary care physicians: 75 percent
4. Geriatrics: 75 percent
5. Obstetrics/Gynecology: 71 percent
6. Pediatrics/adolescent medicine: 66 percent
The report indicates 46 percent of all REC-enrolled specialists demonstrate meaningful use.
