Veterans Affairs CISO resigns

The Department of Veterans Affairs’ chief information security officer has resigned, according to internal documents obtained by MeriTalk.

Brian Burns’ submitted his resignation last week, and his last day will be June 10, according to the internal agency memo. He has held senior IT positions with HHS, and the treasury, education and defense departments, and plans to transition to another federal agency role, according to MeriTalk.

An agency representative told MeriTalk that Mr. Burns helped lead the agency in its efforts towards achieving interoperability since his appointment in 2014, and there will be more details about who will fill the vacated post in coming days.
