Using the Direct messaging allows UNC Health Care to communicate with a larger swath of providers as well as meet meaningful use stage 2 requirements.

“Integrating NC HIE’s Direct Secure Messaging solution with Epic@UNC allows us to exchange patient data with health care providers statewide and fulfill Meaningful Use requirements,” said UNC Health Care CIO Tracy Parham in a news release. “This is another step toward our goal of providing coordinated, real-time data for both patients and care providers.”
