The ransomware attack, which was announced in a message to Barts Health staff Friday, Jan. 13, has affected thousands of files at four hospitals in the city, including Royal London Hospital, St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital and Newham University Hospital.
While investigating the attack, Barts Health took a number of drives offline and turned off its file sharing system, according to The Telegraph. During this 48-hour period, the trust canceled 2,800 patient appointments.
Barts Health did not provide any ransom payment to the cyberattackers.
