Some Anderson, S.C.-based AnMed facilities are still closed as the organization deals with a cybersecurity incident that began July 26.
In an Aug. 3 notice posted on its website, AnMed disclosed that 10 of its facilities are still closed due to the incident. The closed facilities include:
- AnMed Heart & Vascular Diagnostics – Clemson
- AnMed Imaging – Anderson – Medical Center
- AnMed Imaging – Anderson – North Campus
- AnMed Imaging – Cannon
- AnMed Imaging – Clemson
- AnMed Imaging – Piedmont
- AnMed Impressions Appearance Shoppe
- AnMed Laboratory Services – Anderson – Fant Street
- AnMed TMS & Sleep Diagnostics
- AnMed Women’s Diagnostics
The incident began on July 26, when malware disrupted AnMed’s IT systems across South Carolina and Georgia, knocking out internet, phone lines, and network access system-wide.
By July 27, the disruption forced roughly 79 of AnMed’s 106 locations to temporarily close, including all imaging services, oncology and radiation, and AnMed Medical Group offices, and all elective procedures scheduled that day were canceled. Emergency departments, urgent care, pediatric services, integrated therapy, and lab locations stayed open throughout.
A forensic investigation into the incident is still ongoing, and AnMed hasn’t confirmed whether patient data was compromised.
AnMed has said it can’t yet give a timeline for full restoration and has advised patients to be cautious with any electronic communications claiming to be from AnMed in the meantime, given the ongoing incident.
