Health systems across the country are seeing increased demand for specialized IT roles as they invest more deeply in data, AI and cybersecurity.

At Tampa (Fla.) General Hospital, the growth has been especially strong in data and analytics.

Mr. Arnold said the team’s data literacy and ability to translate insights into action have helped the organization expand both its business and market share. He added that  looking ahead, he anticipates further growth in IT roles that “require a deep understanding of advanced artificial intelligence technologies,” specifically agentic AI.

At Brewer, Maine-based Northern Light Health, cybersecurity has become the top area of focus for IT hiring.

“We have seen an increased demand for cyber security expertise,” John Ronan, FACHE, senior vice president at Northern Light Health and president of Northern Light Blue Hill Hospital and Northern Light Maine Coast Hospital, told Becker’s. “It is more important now to do all we can to protect our systems.
