Metron of Greenville (Mich.) partnered with Life EMS Ambulance, an emergency services provider, on a telehealth kit for the program to help monitor patients vital signs after being discharged from the facility. Each cardiac patient will receive the telehealth technology kit, which includes a pulse oximeter, a blood pressure cuff and a scale.
“The end goal would be to have the patient learn and practice using some of this equipment in a rehab setting and then have them take it home with them so they can have their vital signs monitored for a little while after that as well,” said Justin Tarahomi, Life EMS mobile health solutions coordinator, according to the report. “It’s kind of like having eyes on a patient without them being in your facility.”
The program also allows clinicians to prescribe educational videos to patients to watch to learn more about treatment for their condition. After watching the video, the patient is then prompted to take a quiz, which asks questions such as, how the individual can decrease symptoms after heart failure.
