Quest Diagnostics vendor data breach exposes 11.9 million patients & 14 other health IT notes

Here's the latest roundup of stories about 15 health information technology companies, including Athenahealth, Cerner and IBM.

1. San Francisco-based startup Virta Health's continuous remote care platform demonstrated considerable reversal of Type 2 diabetes after two years of continuous use in a study published June 5 in Frontiers in Endocrinology.

2. Medical testing company Laboratory Corp. of America learned 7.7 million of its patients may have had their data exposed in the same vendor breach as Quest Diagnostics.

3. Guardant Health, an oncology-focused technology company, is developing blood tests that help detect cancer in its early stages.

4. Cerner launched its annual Code App Challenge, which aims to encourage third-party developers to design applications that can integrate with EHR systems to improve consumers' access and understanding of health information.
