Prescription video games ease ADHD symptoms in children, study finds

Results from a clinical trial released Dec. 4 suggest prescription video games might help patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Reuters reports.

The video game, developed by Boston-based digital medicine company Akili, aims to stimulate cognitive neural systems in players' brains. The researchers enrolled 348 children and adolescents with ADHD in the clinical trial, each of whom either played Akili's AKL-T01 video game or a separate video game.

Those who played the AKL-T01 product showed significant improvement in sustained attention.

Akili officials plan to file for regulatory approval with the FDA in early 2018, according to Reuters.
