Mr. Appelo will step into his role on Oct. 1, succeeding Sophie Bechu as chief operations officer, according to a June 7 press release. He will work closely with Ms. Bechu to ensure a smooth transition, the company said.
In his new role, Mr. Appelo will report to Philips CEO Frans van Houten.
Prior to becoming chief operations officer at Philips, Mr. Appelo served as vice president of supply chain strategy, innovation and deployment at Johnson & Johnson.
