In an email to staff, National Coordinator Karen DeSalvo, MD, highlighted what she says is Dr. Fridsma’s signature accomplishment — the creation of the Standards and Interoperability Framework. He also helped move the ONC’s Nationwide Health Information Network into a public-private partnership outside the ONC.

Dr. Fridsma will begin his new role with the AMIA in November. The AMIA is a 4,000-member organization comprised of biomedical and health informatics professionals.
