In the current article, the NIST panel details how recommendations from the guide can be translated into practice. The panel has tailored the expanded recommendations to EHR vendors and developers, small-group pediatric medical practices and children’s hospitals.
The suggestions include having a “one-click” access to growth charts and supporting dose information out to more decimal points, which is critical for low-weight patients. The panel also recommended that EHR system users work actively with developers to help tailor the design of EHRs to their needs.
