National Quality Forum Publishes Two Reports on Health IT Meaningful Use

The National Quality Forum has published two new reports in support of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, according to an NQF news release.

The first report, Driving Quality — A Health IT Assessment Framework for Measurement, provides a framework for measuring the use of health IT tools and how that use improves care, processes, quality and safety. The framework also provides guidelines for the information needed to construct these measures.

The second report, Driving Quality and Performance Measurement: A Foundation for Clinical Decision Support, provides a foundation for the description of an electronic infrastructure, connecting the dots between quality measurement and health IT.

The reports were published to help healthcare providers shift the focus from adopting health IT to appropriately and effectively using it. The reports were based on work done by the NQF's Health Information Technology Utilization Expert Panel and the Clinical Decision Support Expert Panel.
