Microsoft adds health insights, mobile integration to its wearable

Microsoft announced today its first wearable, the Band, has three new capabilities that will be available to users soon, including expanded cycling app capabilities, enhanced analytics and mobile integration, according to VentureBeat.

First, Microsoft has integrated two popular cycling apps — MapyMyRide and Strava — so that data collected by the Band on these apps is shareable with the Microsoft Health app. These capabilities will be available April 23, according to VentureBeat.

Second, by April 28, Microsoft expects to launch a new display of health insights for its consumers. These insights will be compiled based on biometrics data collected in the app on daily exercise, sleep, oxygen use, height and weight.

Third, Microsoft will integrate its health app with smartphones as well, so that the mobile devices will also be able to collect biometrics data in addition to the Band, according to VentureBeat.
