The information will be dynamically pulled from the hospital’s electronic medical record system and the CardioAccess Centripitus database, so that the website is updated after every surgery.
“We want to empower parents with the real-time, accurate and accessible information they need to make a confident decision about where to seek cardiac care. It is our commitment to the families who entrust us with their child’s open-heart surgery and subsequent lifelong care,” said Redmond P. Burke, MD, director of cardiovascular surgery at MCH, in a news release.
“To our knowledge, no other pediatric cardiovascular surgery program in the world makes congenital heart surgical results available online directly from their database. The transparency, accessibility, immediacy and inherent honesty of this approach is unique,” he said.
