Phoenix Health Systems, based in Dallas, Texas, will now offer IT services for many EHR systems, including OpenVista. Carlsbad, Calif.-based Medsphere specializes in VistA software and produces the OpenVista EHR platform. Phoenix will provide assistance in systems implementation, compliance project management, service desk, end-user device management, infrastructure support, application management and IT leadership, according to a news release.

The merger aims to cut costs for hospitals and enhance interoperability among various EHR platforms through a third-party vendor, according to the news release.

“Phoenix and Medsphere have clients across the continuum of care, and Phoenix has the experience and personnel to enhance the effectiveness of IT adoption regardless of clinical setting or hospital size,” said Phoenix Chairman and CEO Ronald Gue. “We look forward to working with Medsphere and Phoenix clients to cut costs, improve workflows and create greater efficiencies.”
