McKesson’s Disaster Recovery Services offers healthcare organizations a replication and infrastructure recovery strategy in the event of a disaster.
The solution will be available in two different levels of service: DRS Core or DRS Plus. The Core model provides “geo-redundant replication” of critical data, and users follow a pay-as-you-go model based on hourly cost calculations. The Plus level includes the features of the Core model but includes more detailed options for service level agreement values.
“Healthcare organizations today are faced with increasingly severe financial pressures and many are running leaner than ever,” said Russell Smith, vice president of McKesson Enterprise Information Solutions. “Many hospitals just can’t afford the staff expertise to develop and maintain [traditional disaster recovery solutions]. We are pleased to offer a scalable solution that can help lower the total cost of ownership via economies of scale and delegation of specialized management responsibilities. This can help reduce the burden on the hospital’s onsite IT staff while offloading the responsibility to McKesson for recovering the infrastructure in the event of a declared disaster.”
