Care at Hand and Wellpepper won the challenge, and each company will receive $50,000 and one year of consultation to help with ongoing market development.
The challenge, called the Mayo Clinic Think Big Challenge, had startups competing for two awards: the Got Health Award, focused on helping people stay healthy, and the I Am Not My Disease Award, focused on helping people with chronic illnesses live better lives.
Care at Hand took home the prize for the Got Health Award. The company uses evidence-based smart surveys and an analytics platform to predict and prevent hospitalizations.
Wellpepper was the winner in the I Am Not My Disease category, recognized for its platform that delivers digital treatment plans to patients through mobile devices.
The Think Big Challenge was part of Transform 2015, a conference in Rochester gathering innovation thought leaders. Attendees of the conference chose the winners of the challenge.
