Leidos completes acquisition of Lockheed Martin’s information systems business

Leidos, a technology solutions firm, completed its acquisition of Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems & Global Solutions business, allowing Leidos to double in size.

Leidos focuses on developing technology for the civil, defense, intelligence and homeland security and healthcare markets. The expanded company now includes 33,000 employees and $10 billion in sales, according to a Forbes report. Additionally, the business mix at the company, which was previously more focused on national security work, will now be more evenly divided between its other markets, including healthcare.

Leidos is part of a team, which includes Cerner and Accenture, that was awarded a $4.3 billion contract in 2015 to develop an EHR for the Military Health System.
