Key components of Healthcare IT for patient engagement

Patient engagement, i.e. getting patients to take more ownership of their own care plans, is a crucial aspect of today’s healthcare and a focal point for many healthcare organizations. And in the endeavor to enhance patient engagement, technology can play a pivotal role.

Davin Juckett, Vice President at Ettain Group, recently published a blog post where he discussed Healthcare IT and patient engagement.

In the post, Juckett outlines the importance of organizations applying technology strategically in order to yield the desired outcome without compromising organizational goals or patient wellbeing. The three key components to consider are:

  • Patient engagement is a valuable aspect of healthcare and has to be coordinated at a higher organizational level.
  • Healthcare technology has to be in line with the larger organizational goals.
  • While younger patients likely readily adopt healthcare technology, older patients might find it more problematic or even intrusive.
