Judge requires Oracle to continue hosting Oregon’s Medicaid exchange

A Marion County Circuit Judge has ordered Oracle to continue providing IT services for Oregon’s online Medicaid exchange for another year, according to a Portland Business Journal report.

Earlier this month, Oracle indicated its plans to terminate its services at the end of February. Oregon sued Oracle, saying the state would not have enough time to find another host for its Medicaid enrollment system.

Judge Courtland Geyer issued the ruling.

Oregon is currently working to modify the Kentucky Medicaid system to meet its own needs, and the project is expected to be completed by the end of this year, according to the report.

“We are pleased we have been granted the extension of time needed to continue using the existing technology services until February 28, 2016, by which time we will have implemented the system we are transferring in from Kentucky,” said a spokeswoman for the Oregon Health Authority, according to the report. “We remain intensely focused on providing Medicaid coverage to Oregonians in need.”
