Scalability is a system’s ability to handle a growing amount of work in a capable manner. EHR vendors such as Epic Systems use Cache to manage their data platforms. Increased demand for data processing makes a more powerful data management platform a necessity, according to a news release.
Cambridge, Mass.-based InterSystems provides solutions for healthcare as well as financial services and government agencies. The company was founded in 1978 and is worth approximately $443 million. It has served Epic for almost the entirety of its existence and has expanded its customer based to include Cleveland Clinic, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Partners HealthCare, according to Forbes.
“The scalability and performance improvements of Caché 2015.1 are terrific,” said Carl Dvorak, president of Epic, in the news release. “Almost doubling the scalability, this version provides a key strategic advantage for our user organizations who are pursuing large-scale medical informatics programs as well as aggressive growth strategies in preparation for the volume-to-value transformation in healthcare.”
