The eHealth Exchange is a group of public and private organizations that can share patient information electronically. It was launched in 2009 and currently spans across all 50 states.

Inova connected its Epic EHR to the eHealth Exchange, allowing it to share information with the federal agency.

“Inova’s partnership with the Department of Defense through the eHealth Exchange will provide a platform for securely exchanging health information to improve patient care and public health supporting the large population of military personnel in the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia areas,” said Ryan Bosch, vice president of technology services and CMIO of Inova.
