Bioinformatics Expert Joins Cedars-Sinai to Develop Personalized Treatments

Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai announced Zhenqiu Liu, PhD, has joined the health system to study personalized medicine based on DNA.

Dr. Liu will serve as director of bioinformatics in the department of medicine’s hematology/oncology division. Researchers will use bioinformatics to design treatment plans for individual patients based on their genetic makeup, which will likely enhance the treatment’s effectiveness.

Dr. Liu previously served as an associate professor of bioinformatics in the department of epidemiology and public health at Greenebaum Cancer Center at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.
