How Cerner, Amazon & 5 other health IT companies performed financially in Q3

Here are insights on seven health information technology companies' financial performances for the third quarter of 2019.

1. Allscripts posted $236 million in bookings for the third quarter of 2019, up 19 percent from $198 million during the same time last year.

2. For the third quarter, Amazon reported its first drop in year-over-year net income in two years, even as overall revenue grew 24 percent.

3. Cerner posted $1.43 billion in revenue for the quarter, up 7 percent from $1.34 billion reported in the third quarter of 2018.

4. IBM reported its fifth consecutive quarter of declining revenues at $18 billion for the third quarter.

5. Livongo Health posted third quarter revenue at $46.7 million, a 148 percent increase year over year.

6. Meditech reported $121.2 million in revenue for the third quarter of 2019, up 2 percent from $119.1 million during the same time last year.

7. Teladoc Health posted a 45 percent increase in total visits and revenue of $138 million for the third quarter.

Apple and Microsoft, which closed its fourth quarter of 2019 and first quarter of 2020, respectively, also recently reported financial performances. Apple posted total revenues of $64 billion for its fourth quarter which ended Sept. 28, a 2 percent year-over-year increase. For the first quarter of 2020, which ended Sept. 30, Microsoft reported double-digit year-over-year increases in revenue, earnings and operating income.
