HIMSS: 44% of Hospitals Ready for Meaningful Use Stage 1

Forty-four percent of hospitals said they are “likely” or “most likely” ready to meet stage 1 of meaningful use, according to a Healthcare IT News report.

According to HIMSS Analytics, hospitals that fall into the “most likely” category are able to achieve at least 10 core measures and at least five menu measures. Hospitals that fall into the “likely” category are able to achieve 5-9 core measures and 3-4 menu measures. All other hospital respondents fell in the “least likely” category, according to the report.

Other HIMSS Analytics data showed that of the 44 percent of hospital respondents who are “likely” or “most likely” to meet stage 1, 58 percent expect to meet all meaningful use core measures by May 2012.
