In Georgia, this rate is even higher, as 79 percent of respondents to an Institute for Healthcare Information Technology survey reported a current opening in their IT department, and 86 percent reported foreseeing a need to hire additional IT staff in the next three to five years.

Like in many other areas across the country, healthcare organizations in Georgia worry about their ability to find qualified IT staffers. In the survey, 56 percent of respondents were unsure they would be able to find new IT employees with the desired skill sets.

In Georgia, some of the most in-demand skills are in business intelligence and information architecture. These skills are in demand across the country — the national average salary for both skills jumped more than 7 percent in the last year.
