GAO Appoints Christopher Boone to Serve on HIT Policy Committee

The U.S. Government Accountability Office has appointed Christopher Boone, director of outpatient quality and health information technology for the American Heart Association in Dallas, to serve on the federal Health Information Technology Policy Committee.

Mr. Boone will be filling one of three vacant positions on the committee. The HIT Policy Committee makes recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health IT on the development and adoption of a nationwide health information infrastructure, including standards for the exchange of patient medical information.

As director of outpatient quality and HIT for the American Heart Association, Mr. Boone is responsible for planning and implementing outpatient quality and HIT initiatives. He previously worked at a number of healthcare institutions and consulting firms, including Cook Children’s Health Care System in Forth Worth, Texas; Texas Health Resources in Arlington; UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas and Deloitte Consulting.
