Oracle has elected the former chief executive of Quest Diagnostics to its board as the software giant aims to expand its healthcare presence.

The company unanimously named Stephen Rusckowski to its Board of Directors on Nov. 18. He was president and CEO of Quest from 2012 to 2022 and board chair from 2017 to 2023, after serving as CEO of Philips Healthcare.

”Steve’s years of experience in healthcare and technology will enable him to provide the Oracle board with a unique perspective as to how Oracle Health can better serve patients and healthcare providers around the world,” said Larry Ellison, Oracle’s board chair and chief technology officer, in a Nov. 20 news release.

Oracle bought EHR vendor Cerner in 2022 for $28.4 billion and is moving its global headquarters to Nashville, Tenn., in part to be located amid an epicenter of healthcare business.
