At Epic’s unUGM event on Oct. 3 in Verona, Wis., executives from provider organizations that don’t use Epic learned about the EHR giant’s interoperability efforts, including the four methods of patient record sharing: patient-directed, EHR-to-EHR, web portal and shared records.
Epic also demonstrated its patient-directed form of interoperability called Share Everywhere, which allows patients to temporarily share parts of their health summary with any provider who has connection to the internet. Health data that can be shared includes medications, allergies, health conditions and immunizations.
