Epic has experienced a wave of executive departures and leadership reshuffling in recent weeks.
Here are 10 executive moves at Epic reported by Becker’s in the past month:
1. President Sumit Rana, the second-in-command to founder and CEO Judy Faulkner, will leave Epic Aug. 14 after more than two decades, citing family reasons following his father’s death. He had served as president since 2024.
2. Seth Hain, who led Epic’s AI efforts including its Cosmos-based Curiosity tool, is departing, according to health tech outlet Second Opinion.
3. Dave Fuhrmann, senior vice president of research and development overseeing Epic’s Care Everywhere health information exchange, is leaving, per Second Opinion.
4. Seth Howard, Epic’s vice president of research and development, is taking on expanded responsibilities as part of the leadership realignment following Mr. Rana’s departure.
5. Mark Lipsky, an Epic division manager, is also assuming added responsibilities under the same plan.
6. Erv Walter, vice president of software development, is expanding his role at the company.
7. Garrett Adams, senior vice president of research and development, is stepping into a broader position.
8. Trevor Berceau, a research and development director, will take over managing Care Everywhere, according to Second Opinion.
9. Drew McCombs, Epic’s former vice president of the Nebula Cloud Platform, Cogito Analytics and AI, departed earlier this year after nearly two decades at the EHR giant to become chief technology officer and chief information security officer at fintech company Cylerity.
10. Mark Morris, a two-decade Epic veteran and technical services team leader, announced his exit this week.
The moves come weeks before Epic’s Users Group Meeting, set for Aug. 17-20, where the company’s AI and leadership direction will be closely watched.
