Detroit Health Council to Launch App to Curb EMS Overuse

The Greater Detroit Area Health Council will launch an app this week to help patients find low-cost or free hospitals and clinics in their area, according to a Crain's Detroit report.

According to GDAHC, approximately one-quarter of EMS calls in Detroit in 2010 were considered true emergencies, so the health council decided to develop the Find MI Care app to help curb overuse of emergency services.

Users can locate primary care, dental, women's services, behavioral health and other services through the app.
