Dallas Hospital Hacker Gets 9 Years in Prison

A former hospital security guard of W.B. Carrell Memorial Clinic in Dallas has been sentenced to 110 months in federal prison for hacking into the hospital’s computer system and installing malware with intent to launch distributed-denial-of-service attacks, according to an InformationWeek news report.

Jesse William McGraw, a hacker who is also known as GhostExodus, admitted he intended to use the hospital’s computer system to launch DDoS attacks on rival hacker groups. Mr. McGraw’s hacker activities were discovered through YouTube videos, which showcased him detailing plans for his future attack.

In addition to his prison sentence, Mr. McGraw must pay $31,881.75 in restitution to the hospital groups affected by his activities, according to the news report.
