In a data breach notice, One Brooklyn said it detected the cybersecurity incident Nov. 19 and immediately took its systems offline and began investigating. Upset patients later protested over the EHR outages.
The health system — which operates safety-net hospitals Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, Interfaith Medical Center and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center — found that certain data may have been accessible to the hacker as early as July 9, and that the party copied a “limited amount” of data, including patients’ personal and medical information, between Nov. 17 and Nov. 19.
The review of what data was affected is still active, but One Brooklyn said it has no indication that any of it has been used to “commit theft, fraud or other harm to individuals.”
