CCHIT Showing Progress in Certifying Electronic Health Records Products

The Certification and Commission for Health Information Technology had tested and certified 33 electronic health record products, according to a CCHIT news release.

CCHIT is an organization authorized by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology to be an Authorized Testing and Certification Body. ONC-ATCBs are authorized to test and certify electronic health systems to ensure compliance to standards and certification criteria set by the Department of Health & Human Services earlier this year. ONC-ATCB certification ensures EHR products will support healthcare providers' achievement of meaningful use.

The CCHIT certifications include 19 complete EHRs that meet all of the 2011/2012 criteria for either eligible provider or hospital technology and 14 EHR modules that meet one or more, but not all, of the criteria.
